TATAR SABRE

The Tatars are a Turkic people, coming from the steppes of Central Asia. The Tatars appeared around the 12th century in Western textual sources. Subservient to the Mongols, they drove out the Cumans, settled in Eastern Europe and settled in a large area including the banks of the Voga, the Crimea, the Kazan region. The Tartars have mingled throughout history with local populations, and their weapons have been exported, particularly to Poland.

The Tatars are, in the 15th century, subservient to the Ottoman Empire, and later, some Tatars will come under Russian domination, in the 18th century.
