Half-circles capes with brocade silk pannels ("tablions")

Typically Byzantine, and in vogue from late antiquity to the late Middle Ages, these capes (chlamys) are characterized by two square panels of silk brocade on the front sides named "ταβλίον". This fashion will be copied by their Frankish neighbors in the early Middle Ages, who will sew an elongated silk brocade panel on the front of the garment. Even the early Rus' were undoubtedly inspired by this fashion, as suggested by a fresco dating from the 11th century, coming from the cathedral of Kyiv. Some of these capes could also be decorated with embroidered or stamped designs.

Of Germanic origin, these capes were in vogue in the Scandinavian space in the early Middle Ages, among the Anglo-Saxon populations, probably also the Merovingians... as well as among the Scandinavian settlers settled in the Rus' world. These capes can be worn in different ways, and are both a garment and a blanket during the cold times of the year.

Capes with historical stamps

Wool capes, semi-circular in shape, or rectangulars, decorated with stamps of historical motifs.
We have faithfully copied these patterns, from the archaeological textile remains available, and from various silk brocades, mostly Byzantine. These exceptional fabrics greatly influenced fashion in Europe in the Middle Ages: clothes were decorated with stamps, to imitate Byzantine fashion at a lower cost.
Frescoes were even painted on the walls, the patterns of which were copied from Byzantine silk brocades (the Esztergom lion pattern is a striking example).

We have arguably the most extensive historical stamp library in Western Europe.
We stamp by hand, meticulously.
Many colors of wool, and silk for the edges, are available. It is also possible to sew the edges using a simple hemstitch. All visible stitches are hand-sewn, as usual.
For Rus & Byzantine early-medieval reenactors, particulary. In the later part of the Middle-age, the crafters, located in modern called-Germany were also textile stamping specialists.
