LANGSAX

Langsax based on an artefact, found during excavations in Barkhausen, Modern Germany, Westphalia, dated 8-9th century.
It is reminiscent of the general profile of the scramasaxe, worn on the warrior's belt in the Stuttgart Psalter and it finds a lot of parallels among other finds from Frankish / Carolingian territories. Close analogies exists into Viking settlements (Hedeby, etc.) as well. Datation: 8-9 century.

SPECIFICATIONS

- The reconstruction is 64 centimeters long, 13cm handle lenght, 51cm blade lenght.
- Blade width 3cm, near the handle.
- Blade thickness is about 3-4mm at the back.
- The blade is 51crv4 steel hardened in factory heat threatment to 50 HRC. Wood handle.
