The pattern of this silk brocade consists of roundels containing confronted geese flanking a tree. The inscription band enclosing the roundel reads “Glory, prosperity and victory.” ([عز وآقبال ونص[ر)
Pattern extracted from a full brocaded silk caftan / robe, from the Met Museum. Original item purchased by The Sarikhani Collection on 10 September, 2007 from Yacob’s Gallery, London.
Culture: Seldjukid.
Probably woven in middle-east, Iran?
