Frankish / Merovingian axe-head, faithfully copied from an original artifact. There is many "francisques" and very clear typologies. This weapon, deadly and very beautifull, tends to disapear around 6-7 century.
The name Francisca appears for the first time in the book Ethymologiarum sive originum, libri XX by Isidore of Seville, around 600 AD.
The francisque can be recognized by the characteristic S-shaped curvature, the lower edge of the blade curving inward then forming an elbow with the handle
