Dorogobuzh armor / Byzantine great-Palace - Byzantine & Rus - 11/13 century
Armor description
Scales of the same similar shape were found in Dorogobuzh (Rivno province, Russia) and in the Grand Palace of Constantinopole (Istanbul). The Byzantine scales date from the late 12th century, or perhaps the early 13th century, as do those from Dorogobuzh. Dating, and shape are therefore similar, although a little earlier (perhaps from the second half of the 11th century - Rus scales), and indicate a type of armor that was undoubtedly widespread and fashionable for a long time period.
