Long scramasaxe - "Langsax"Available blunted, or sharpened.


Carolingian langsax based on an artefact, found during excavations in Barkhausen, Modern Germany, Westphalia, dated 8-9th century.
The reconstruction is 64 centimeters long, 13cm handle lenght, 51cm blade lenght.
It is reminiscent of the general profile of the scramasaxe, worn on the warrior's belt in the Stuttgart Psalter and it finds a lot of parallels among other finds from Frankish / carolingian territories.
Blade width 3cm, near the handle.
Blade thickness is about 3-4mm at the back.

The blade is 51crv4 steel hardened in factory heat threatment to 50 HRC. Wood handle.
Culture: Carolingian / Frankish. Similar finds are also registered into "Viking" territory, Hedeby, among others.
Datation: 8-9 century.
