The parameon is a saber-like curved sword, used by Byzantine soldiers. This one edged weapon is mainly used by byzantine cavalery. It probably came from the Middle-east, or from the sabres used by Turkish steppic warriors, like Cumans, or Petchenegs. The name paramerion means 'by the thigh', this may reflect that it was worn suspended by slings from a waist-belt, rather than the usual way to carry a weapon, i.e. on shoulders (baldric).
The parameon appeard during the high middle ages, but was still used later.

Customize your sword!

- It is possible to reduce the total weight (about 150g less) for better balancing and better combat performance. Please note that the profile of the blade, as well as its width will be necessary modified, but the sword will always be blunt for safe combat.
- It is possible to choose the type of handle: wood, bone, horn.
- It is possible to add a scabbard. Our scabbards are made of pine wood, covered with bovine leather (1.5mm thick). Wool interior trim, to protect the blade. Historic fixing bridge.
- It is possible to add historical scabbard chapes. The price also includes installation on the scabbard.
