Helmet description

The Black Grave (Ukrainian: Чорна Могила, romanized: Chorna mohyla) is the largest burial mound (kurgan) in Chernihiv, Ukraine. It is part of the National Sanctuary of Ancient Chernihiv and is an Archaeological Monument of national importance.
During excavations undertaken in 1872–73, Dmitry Samokvasov uncovered two cremated bodies of Norse warriors (probably father and son), surrounded by slaves, sacrificial animals, arms, armour, and decorations. Samokvasov dated the burial to the late 10th century, when Vladimir I was the ruler of Kievan Rus. It is likely that the buried warriors were two princes (knyazes) of Chernihiv, although no local potentate is attested in the Slavonic chronicles before Vladimir's son, Mstislav of Chernihiv.

Our interpretation excludes the full copper covering on the helmet, in order to propose you the best quality / price range, and in order to maximize the resistance of the helmet, and his visual durability.

This helmet, typically Rus, will be suitable for a warrior of high rank.

Made of 2mm "st3" steel. Nasal part 3mm thickness.
Everything is hand-forged by quality craftmens. Chainmail is hand-made, from the wire, to the final riveting by a specialized maker. We do not provide any chainmail / helmet from India, or Pakistan!

- You can choose the inner circumference of your helmet.
- You can choose three types of exterior finish: classic, "raw" or "blackened".
- You can add a chainmail aventail, open, or closed (protecting the face then).
- You can choose the diameter of the rings.
- You can add borders with brass rings on the outline of your aventail.
- You can choose the method of fixing your aventail: spaced holes, close holes, system, "gutter" system, and hooks.
