Helmet description

Birka is probably the most famous Viking "urban" settlement among reenactors. Located in present-day Sweden, it was at the crossroads between the north, western europe, and the east: russia, and the Eurasian steppes.
The numerous excavations carried out at Birka for several decades have made it possible to prove the existence of a permanently installed garrison. This garrison included a large number of warriors from Eastern Europe, see the steppes: reason why we often speak of garrison Khazare. The numerous material remains bear witness to this, such as the tarsoly appliques and certain belts.
Various fragments, attributable to helmets have also been found. Two of them, coming from one and the same helmet are particularly interesting. They are made of a copper alloy, and are decorated with a stamped decoration, a decoration with birds, and trees. The work is very meticulous, and most often, very poorly reproduced by the manufacturers of low-cost helmets. We have put all our energy into reproducing this motif in the best possible way.

Unfortunately, not having found a fragment of the helmet shell which corresponded to this "decorative band", it is only possible to make hypotheses. Thus, we installed these decorative bands on a skull cap similar to that of Gulbische's helmet, which is Rus, and contemporary with the fragments found at Birka. This is, for us, and for many others reenactors, one of the most plausible hypothesis.
The gulbische helmet did not have a nose part, but we added one, similar to that of Manvelovka, in order to protect the fighter during the sport of combat; especially in eastern-style.

----

Made of 2mm "st3" steel. Nasal part 3mm thickness.
Everything is hand-forged by quality craftmens. Chainmail is hand-made, from the wire, to the final riveting by a specialized maker. We do not provide any chainmail / helmet from India, or Pakistan!
Produced on order, within 4 weeks only!

Shipping costs are calculated after the helmet is manufactured.
Indeed, the weight of a helmet varies greatly, depending on the model, the size, and whether or not a chainmail aventail is added.
*Our goal is to charge the customer the actual amount of postage, and not a penny more! It therefore seems more appropriate to us to proceed in this way, rather than to estimate shipping costs arbitrarily, with a margin of safety which would unfairly affect certain customers.
